About the Cemetery

Cemetery History

The cemetery began as a Swedish Baptist Cemetery of Sandy Lake in 1909. Renamed Sandy Lake Cemetery when the church changed names. Currently under Grace Baptist Cloquet and Grace Baptist south campus, old Sandy Lake Baptist Church.

About the Map

Purpose:
The purpose of the Map is to graphically depict where in the Cemetery any given grave is, and to show information about the people buried within.

Map Key:
The Map is organized into Blocks, Lots and Graves. The top of the Map is always North.

Panning the Map:
To pan the Map up/down/left/right, you may use the scrollbars to the right and bottom of the map, or click and drag the map around.

Highlighted Graves:
You can highlight various states of graves. Ex - all occupied graves, all available graves, all military graves. Moving your cursor over a grave will show more details about the person located there. 

Scale (Zoom In/Out):
To zoom in or out on the Map, click the gray "plus" or "minus" buttons underneith a map.
 

Driving Directions

Sandy Lake Cemetery is located on the north east corner of the County Rd 4 and County Rd 5 out of Carlton, MN.

Driving Directions From Duluth/North:

  1. Take I-35 South from Duluth, exit right on Mahtowa exit (County Rd 4)
  2. At the end of the exit, turn left (east), go across I-35
  3. Travel east 3 miles to County Rd. 5
  4. The cemetery is at this intersection of County Rd 4 and 5

Driving Directions from Barnum/South:

  1. Take I-35 North from Barnum or further South, exit right on the Mahtowa exit (County Rd 4)
  2. At the end of the exit, turn right (east)
  3. Travel east 3 miles to County Rd. 5
  4. The cemetery is at this intersection of County Rd 4 and 5
