Elmer M. Anderson

Funeral services for Elmer “Andy” Anderson, 67, of Ely Lake were at Christ Lutheran Church in Eveleth.

A Masonic Service was at the Range Funeral Home in Virginia.

The Rev. Guy W. Redfield officiated. Burial was in Sandy Lake Cemetery.

He died while cross country skiing at his residence.

He was born Nov. 26, 1918, in Carlton, Minn. He graduated from Carlton High School in 1936 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII.

He lived in Duluth for many years; since 1966 had lived in the Ely Lake-Eveleth area. He was a salesman for 35 years for Road Machinery & Supply Co. in Duluth and Virginia, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Eveleth. He married Linnea M. Eklund Feb. 10, 1945, in Duluth. He was a member and past master of the Eveleth Masonic Lodge No. 239 AF&AM, a member of Keystone Chapter 20, Royal Arch Masons, a member of the Odd AAD Temple of the Shrine in Duluth, the Eveleth Lions Club and the Eveleth Elks Club No. 1161.

Survivors include his wife, Linnea; two sons, Stephen (Katherine) and David, both of St. Paul; two grandchildren; two sisters, Avis (Arthur) Portz, of Homosassa Springs, Fla., and Wanda (Truman) Hikstad of Superior, Wis.; several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by a brother Paul in 1980.
